Not that it should be so, but the world of finance, and all that relates, dictates the material conditions of our lives. It's a complicated, emotionally-triggering, ethically and morally questionable, at best, system with very real, very scary consequences for nonconformity. And it's all by design, but it's a flimsy system once you start poking holes. And what better way to poke holes than to address the contradictions head on!
This is my attempt to break down the gatekept knowledge and understanding of the modern financial systems that run the world.
Ask away - I will do my honest best to answer your questions, with contextual information included. I will de-identify the question and post it in The Diary of an Accountant for future reference.
In the coming weeks, I will be posting an actual human's guide to filing your own taxes, the real effect of different loan terms and what is and isn't deductible (to reduce what you pay in tax).
Reality-Based Accounting
A finance only approach to accounting is no longer sufficient to make good business decisions. We must accurately account for the impact felt by the environment and the workers in order to achieve true sustainability. If you're interested, let's talk!

We're continuously crafting new content, but we work at a reasonable pace so it's not fast. But life shouldn't be :-)
About Us
Carolyn Jensen
Carolyn founded Jensen Financial Services in 2018 after leaving her corporate finance job to return to graduate school. What started as a part-time freelancing gig has grown into a well-rounded accounting team of three! Carolyn holds degrees in Physics, Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics, as well as an MBA. Her relevant work experience includes research scientist, electrical engineer, accounting contractor and financial analyst. She runs a direct mutual organization, Lost Archives, currently working with Maine's asylum seeking and refugee community.
Accounting, whether financial, resourced-based or moral, is an integral part of life, and it's not for everyone. But Carolyn truly enjoys it - it's like a digital puzzle and puzzles are her favorite thing!
Ben Jensen
Ben left a career in farming, forestry, and various blue collar jobs in 2019 to join Carolyn in her accounting venture. He takes pride in providing high quality accounting and bookkeeping support to working class folks in agricultural enterprises and the trades; crucial and essential parts of our economy.
Cheyenne Farrell
Cheyenne is the most recent addition to the team! She came to us from Texas, by way of Hawaii and Wyoming. Her experience in teaching, psychology and hospitality, coupled with her common sense and ability to read between the lines makes her an incredible bookkeeper.
